GRSS Travel Support

Travel support for a limited number of GRSS members and student members may be available from the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society. The GRSS travel support application must be submitted online by 20 January 2023, through the link below:

What the IGARSS travel grant will cover:

  • Conference registration fee at your membership grade
  • Flight cost to/from nearest airport1
  • Accommodation (Hotel/University residence) cost for 5 days up to a maximum of 500$ US2

1Reasonable estimate based on current pricing using tools such as Travelocity, Expedia, Flight Hub, etc. Only economy fare will be accepted.
2A maximum of 100$ per day can be claimed.

When and how the IGARSS travel grant will be paid to you:

  • Reimbursement will be made AFTER the conference, once all receipts have been submitted. Detailed instructions will be provided to recipients. Payment will be through direct deposit to bank account
  • Claim must be submitted within 30 days after the conference
  • Receipts are required for each claim. Amounts claimed without a receipt will not be reimbursed
  • The final payment will be made within 14 days of a properly submitted claim

To apply for an IGARSS travel grant, you must:

  • be an IEEE and GRSS member
  • be a first author or presenting author on at least 1 accepted abstract
  • have not received funding within the last 2 years

You can increase your chances to receive an IGARSS travel grant if:

  • you bring in co-funding from your institution or other external sources
  • you are an active GRSS volunteer in a local GRSS chapter or local GRSS student chapter
